Lupang Hinirang – The Philippine National Anthem (performed by the UP Concert Chorus!)

Back in the day (around the late 80’s and early 90’s), TV networks and cinemas used to broadcast the Philippine National Anthem arrangement of National Artist Lucio San Pedro (that rubato slow movement at the start, then the fast regular tempo), which was performed with exuberance by the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus (UPCC) accompanied by a video montage about “the beauty of the Philippines” courtesy of Philippine Airlines (PAL) and the Department of Tourism. Since I don’t have a copy of that great video, I tried to render a “poor man’s version” of that Lupang Hinirang masterpiece. Fortunately, through patience, skill and hard work, I was able to find some of the materials used by PAL in the original version. With a little imagination, I have filled in the gaps by “recycling” some video clips used in other Lupang Hinirang videos while taking a few creative liberties from my archive collection.
