manny should just fight cotto at 147, he’ll still kill him anyway
100% agreed. Great video, bro.
Thank you sir. Blees you as well
jhabeeb im a Filipino but I got you man!!!! the debate is all about 143lb, disadvantage on the part of cotto. 145lb. is much fairer to both figthers. I know for sure that pacquiao camp are the one pursuing that cacth wiegth but am!!! cotto realizing or sensing that he is in trouble in that cacth weigth at 143!!!!!!! so to end this debate 145lb is much fairer to both figthers….. nice video jhabeeb, hope to view more interesting comment and videos from you……….. GOD BLESS peace!!!!!!!!
Cotto needs just 1pound to make it a 145, since he weight 146 @ Clottey fight. that’s not gonna kill him! i don’t even think it will affect him! The burden really is on Pacquiao. He has to add weight that never before has been done. This is a dangerous match-up for him coz Cotto is far more better, bigger & tougher than any on welterweight division. but still, my bet is on PACMAN. no one punch like Pacquiao does! firepower in both-hands/speed / relentless assault.
I don’t like catchweight fights, but I also don’t like guys blowing up 20 to 25 pounds on fight night. Clottey fought Corrales in 07 at the 147 weight limit and at fight night came in weighing at 171, what the hell is that? How about same day weigh ins back in boxing this will make guys fight at their natural weights instead of having them cheating to fight at smaller weight classes.
ADVANTAGE?! didn’t COTTO weigh 146LBS against CLOTTEY? all he has to do is lose 1 POUND. for his BIGGEST PAYYDAY i think COTTO can do that.
good point…we are all entitled with our opinion…we excluded race and hate…
Umm!
Pacquiao Camp should agree to fight Cotto within the welterweight limits of 141-147lbs.
Cotto is damn right!
Since he is the Champ he has all the rights to demand Pacquiao to fight him at 147lbs to make it a title bout.
My solution to all these mess and satisfied both camps is to make this fight a 147lbs title bout and weighing should be on the same fight night.
I think Cotto will have no more excuses not to put his belt on the line or duck Pacquiao. What do you think boxing fans?
Cotto’s last fight, he came in at 146lbs(147 lbs is the welterweight limit). The agreed weight is 145lbs. Cotto is the naturally bigger and stronger fighter (let’s remember that Manny is the money fight), Cotto is not putting his belt on the line (again everybody wants to fight Manny for the money). I understand the safety issue, now they will fight at 145. There is no more excuses if Manny beats Cotto. If Manny looses, then Cotto is the new P4P.
Finally somebody is talking w/ facts!!! Poeple don’t understand the difference between dehydrating and loosing muscle weight vs fat weight. They see themselves modifying their diets or starting a routine and loosing 5 to10 lbs and shit I lost 5 lbs and people are crying for Cotto loosing 2 lbs. Cotto walks around 165 to 170 lbs to go to 147 itself we are talking 18 to 23 lbs + the routines, sparting sections and all the abuse that fighters are put up to be ready for a fight.
Thanks bro
The debate was about 143 not 145. People are just missing the point. I am against catchweights but I can deal with 145. The nutritionist said the lowest Cotto can come down is 145 not 143. 145 is a much fairer fight than 143. So I agree with the nutrtionist that 143 would have been to low. The answer to your last question is yes.CREAM (cash rules everything around me).
youre looking at 2lbs down. it ’s not gonna make any difference. are you saying that the nutritionist of cotto are less knowledgeable than you? do you really think theyre going to let the fight happen if there are potential risk to cotto’s health for dropping a “2lbs” of his weight.
Yes I agree. Thanks for stopping by David
Welcome to the pool of hate Joe, it’s because you do make good points. I personally don’t want to see catch weight fights when there are already too many divisions. Weight limits exist for a reason and how can our sport be respectable when our athletes won’t follow consistent rules?
it’s not unsafe. and, he has a choice to stay in his division and fight fighters his size. but, he & his camp are chasing the welterweight money not wanting to fight any welterweights. it’s silly and shady, if you really think about it. and watch, MP is going to gain some weight. i wouldn’t be surprised if for his next fight close to the welterweight range he weighs-in heaviest yet. bottom line, Manny can stay at 140. but, he made a statement with DLH at 147, so now welters want a piece of him.
“CATCHWEIGHT” everybody’s right on their opinions, insights and everything i means everybody;s just right, but for them its bussiness men, people still would love to watch the fight, and if you dont like catchweight fight then dont watch, as simple as that for them, and some say manny should speak for himself again you guys are right, but man millions are invlove here so better shut up take the money and run,, PEACE
That’s my point. You, I, and everybody else knows that SRR was on a whole other level. Despite that Lamotta was competitive in those fights–except the last.
SRR = GOAT. Lamotta is not even top 50 P4P, probably not even top 10 @ 160.
Lamotta won once. A second time Lamotta lost a SD. A third time Lamotta loss UD10, but Boxrec quotes SRR as saying that was his “toughest fight ever”
They had six fights because no one would fight them. Boxers fought each other several times back then. I just believe in my heart that Ray was alot better and La Motta will say the same thing. He already has.
Lopsided? I don’t think you have six fights if they are all lopsided.
Graham Houston:
“Of all the multi-bout conflicts, Sugar Ray Robinson’s six-bout series with Jake LaMotta is probably the most revered by fight fans.
Robinson and LaMotta had five fiercely competitive nontitle fights between 1942 and 1945. The far more gifted Robinson won four of them but was twice knocked down by the slower but bigger, stronger and heavier LaMotta — these fights were middleweight against welterweight.”
They only had one close fight and that was the first won. Ray won lopsided decisions. Check Boxrec. La Motta even said that Ray was the best ever. As much as I respect Jake as a fighter there is just no comparison.
thanks for the reply and the correction. My point is weight offsets the skill advantage to a certain degree. Otherwise why do they have weight divisions?
Let’s say we rate fighters on a scale 1-10. SRR beyond doubt is a “10″. Lamotta, is probably a “8.5″. But guess what. Aside from St. Valentines Day Massacre, all of the SRR/Lamotta fights were hotly contested.
You can’t chalk that up to a bad night. You can’t chalk that up to styles.
Sugar Ray Robinson lost the second fight not the first and he weighed 145 when he won the first one and La Motta weighed 157 3/4. Skill wins over size.
